You can build your own greenhouse in a day! 🌱 At our Englewood Community Farm, we turned a few basic materials—T-posts, cattle fencing, and thick plastic—into sturdy DIY greenhouses that keep our plants warm through the cold months. We started by hammering T-posts into the corners of each garden bed, then bent cattle fencing into arches to make a strong frame. Finally, we wrapped the frame with heavy plastic sheeting, secured it tightly, and sealed the edges to hold in heat while still letting sunlight through. These simple “hoop house” covers protect crops from frost, extend the growing season, and help us keep fresh food growing longer—all without expensive materials or tools. Anyone can try this at home or in a community garden! 🌿✨ #englewoodcommunityfarm #urbangardening #diygreenhouse #foodsovereignty #growtogether #socialchange
πŸ–€ The next generation is already watching. πŸ’› Today isn’t just about ballots — it’s about belonging, showing up, and building a future where every voice is seen and valued. From the youngest hands holding signs to the neighbors walking door to door, this is what community looks like. Today is Election Day in Georgia — polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (and in the city of Atlanta until 8 p.m.). οΏΌ Here’s what’s happening: • Key statewide race: Two seats on the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) are on the ballot. These races matter for how much you pay for utilities and how energy policy is shaped. οΏΌ • In Atlanta: Mayoral race and all 15 City Council seats are up for grabs — big local decision day. οΏΌ • Early voting turnout in Georgia was low — only about 8.9% of active voters cast ballots before today. οΏΌ If you’re in Georgia and haven’t voted yet, make sure you bring a valid photo ID and vote at your correct precinct. οΏΌ Let’s get out the vote! #atlanta #communitylove #BlackVotersMatter #togetherwecan #changemakers #ATLstrong #chicago #atl #love #vote #community

All power to the people. That’s what democracy means. It means what the people demand is what is to be. And the people are vehemently opposed to this map. 84% of North Carolinians are against gerrymandered maps like this. Thousands of public comments also show that North Carolinians don’t want this. Even every person testifying today is testifying against this map. But the sponsor doesn’t care what his constituents want. He doesn’t care what the people of his own state want. And that blatant disregard for his duty to his constituents, his duty to this state and his duty to the constitution is a crystal clear violation of his oath of office—and that must not and cannot go unnoticed. The result? North Carolina will have its most racist map since slavery. A map that defiles the bedrock, fundamental principles of freedom and democracy that comprise our country’s very soul. And this illegal, unconstitutional map, the backroom, closed door process by which it was drawn, and the racist outcomes the map guarantees, all blatantly rob the people of North Carolina of their choice, their chance to participate and the chance for their voice to be heard. And when you couple that with the certain, oppressive legislative and executive action outcomes this map is intended to further, this map is not an act of democracy, it is an act of authoritarianism. And we at Social Change will not stand for it. And we call on all true patriots, all who truly love our country, our democracy, our constitution and love our freedom, in this state and across this country, to rise up and stand in opposition to this map, as well. The Noβ€―Kingsβ€―protests held on October 18, 2025 are among the largest single-day protest mobilisations in U.S. history. Millions filled the streets yesterday chanting no thrones, no crowns, no kings — a nationwide stand for democracy and against authoritarian power. From New York to Chicago to D.C., more than 7 million people marched peacefully to remind the world that power belongs to the people. βœŠπŸΎπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ credit: @drdavidjohns #nokingsday #power #protest #chicago

🚨 What’s happening in North Carolina is a direct attack on democracy — and if it can happen there, it can happen anywhere. Right now, politicians are trying to redraw North Carolina’s voting maps — the district lines that decide who gets to vote for which leaders. When maps are drawn fairly, every community has a voice. When they’re manipulated through gerrymandering, politicians choose their voters instead of voters choosing their leaders. ‼️This new plan would give one party nearly 80% of congressional seats in a state that’s split 50/50. They’re doing it behind closed doors — silencing voters, dividing communities, and dismantling the power of Black and working-class voters across the state. ⚠️This isn’t leadership. It’s corruption — and it’s a warning. If they succeed in North Carolina, expect this same playbook to roll out nationwide. Every voter deserves maps that reflect people, not politics. North Carolina’s own polling shows that 84% of voters — Republican, Democrat, and Independent — reject gerrymandering altogether. It’s time to stand up, speak out, and stop this before it spreads. ✊🏾 Here’s how you can take action: (screenshot this and then open the pic and hold down on the link to open) 1️⃣ Review the maps for yourself: www.ncleg.gov/CommitteeInfo/SenateStanding/154/Documents/19984 2️⃣ Submit a written comment ‼️WE NEED A LOT ‼️ (we know this sounds daunting so we’ll have members of our team onsite in nc to walk you through the process because we truly need every voice to be heard): www.ncleg.gov/requestforcomments/48 3️⃣ Show up at the General Assembly this Monday at 10:00 AM — Room 643, Legislative Office Building, Raleigh. 4️⃣ Join the Virtual Press Conference this Monday at 2:00 PM. (DM for link) 5️⃣ Join “The People’s Hearing: We Are All CD1” — Thursday, October 23 at 6:00 PM. RSVP: ccnc.me/nokings If they won’t hold true public hearings, we will. If they won’t listen, we’ll make them hear us. No matter where you live, this fight is yours too. #fairmaps #protectthevote #socialchange #northcarolina
