πŸ₯’ This weekend we put up a fence for the tomato and cucumbers to grow on. Last weekend we played flowers and other veggies. The struggle is real when we don’t have water hook up. We have to carry buckets of water from our water tank that the neighbor filled up. If it wasn’t for him filling that up we would have no water at all. The alderman said they don’t give water access from the pump (that was one option) because gardens attract rodents :/ and the other option is raising money to some how find the main water pump underground. If anyone has suggestions please let us know would love to figure out this water situation. We also need pallets so we can raise our water tank higher so we can connect a hose ( we tried the hose but no water pressure due to the tank be ground level) #help #garden #community #socialchange #englewood

Today we planted, harvested, watered, painted, built, and spent time together creating something bigger than a garden. From kids playing in the soil to neighbors harvesting fresh kale and volunteers planting new rows, every moment helped grow a space rooted in food, peace, learning, and community. This is what community care looks like. People showing up for each other. Families learning together. Fresh food being grown right here in Englewood. Future changemakers 🌻 Today was Art in the Farm at the Social Change Community Farm 🎨🌱 In partnership with The Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities @safepeacefulchi Kids spent the morning painting raised beds, planting seeds, playing in the soil, and helping bring more color and joy to the farm. Shout out to our Outreach Director Mari @only1maribody for leading and running last Friday’s free clothes pop up and community giveaway for families on the South Side ❀️ Because of her work and the support of our volunteers and partners from Dearborn Homes and @chicagohousingauthority , families were able to grab clothes, shoes, essentials, burgers and sandwiches, and connect with resources all in one space. Moments like this matter. Sometimes something as simple as a fresh outfit, a warm meal, or knowing somebody cares can make a real difference. Thank you to everybody who donated, volunteered, and showed up for the community.
