If you’ve never started seeds from scratch, this is your sign 🌱 It’s easier than you think. Today we started seedlings for the Social Change Community Farm. These tiny seeds will soon grow into fresh vegetables that will nourish our community, support our free farmers markets, and help expand access to healthy food on Chicago’s South Side. Watching something grow from a tiny seed into food that feeds your neighbors is powerful. Part 2 will be about how to thin the plants (since we put 2-3 seeds) If you want to volunteer, learn about gardening, or support the farm, stay connected. The season is just beginning 🌿 #seedstarting #homestead #gardening #chicago #socialchange

Today we’re highlighting Channyn Lynne Parker for Women’s History Month! Channyn Lynne Parker is the Chief Executive Officer of Equality Illinois, the state’s leading LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. A nationally recognized advocate and community leader, she has spent more than two decades advancing LGBTQ+ justice, racial equity, and access to health and housing across Illinois. Before becoming CEO, she led Brave Space Alliance where she helped strengthen services like behavioral health care, transitional housing, and community based health access. Her work has also included leadership roles with Howard Brown Health, Broadway Youth Center, and Chicago House supporting youth, healthcare access, and reentry services. Channyn is the first Black transgender woman to lead Equality Illinois in its 34 year history. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to equity, dignity, and building stronger communities for everyone. We celebrate the impact of women like Channyn who continue to move justice forward in Illinois. 💜

Tomorrow, we stand with our partners at AHF to speak out for HIV care in Chicago. Critical funding that supports HIV Primary Care and Early Intervention Services for some of Chicago’s most underserved communities is at risk. These services help ensure people have access to care, treatment, and support when they need it most. We invite our community to join us in standing up for these vital services. Friday, March 13 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM 1340 S. Damen, Suite 400, Chicago Lunch, shirts, and Lyft rides are available for volunteers. Let’s show up together to protect the care and resources our communities depend on.

Today! 🗓️ Monday, March 9, 2026 ⏰ 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM 📍Georgia State Capitol, Room CAP 216 in Atlanta, advocates, families, legislators, and community leaders will gather for Infant Emergency Preparedness Advocacy Day. This family friendly event is focused on strengthening protections for infants during emergencies 🚨 and ensuring parents and caregivers have the resources they need to keep their babies safe 🍼🧸. ‼️This day would not be possible without Britt @officialbrittanyburns and her incredible leadership ✨. Her commitment, her voice, and her lived experience, alongside the courage and light of her little girl 🌸, are what brought this movement into the building. Britt turned love into action and pain into purpose 💛. This is her fight, and we are honored to stand with her. Thanks to the partners and sponsors who are helping make this day possible 🤝, including CPRWraps, Maternal World Health, Khari’s Calls, Social Change, Black Voters Matter, Georgia Equality, Park Cannon, Publix, and community supporters who continue to show up for Georgia families 💙. Infant formula and diapers are generously sponsored by Publix 🛒🍼. Together we can protect babies 👶, support parents 🤍, and close the gap that has gone ignored for far too long. #atlanta #georgia #baby #cpr #sids

Spotlighting Patti Vazquez this Women’s History Month :Chicago’s own Patti Vasquez has spent her career proving that humor can be powerful and that a microphone can be a tool for truth. As a comedian, writer, and radio host, Patti has built a space where laughter and real conversations live side by side. Whether she’s on stage or behind the mic, she isn’t afraid to talk about politics, culture, identity, and the everyday experiences that shape our lives. Her voice has become a familiar one across Chicago. Through comedy and media, she challenges people to think, question, and sometimes laugh at the absurdity of the world around us. Women like Patti remind us that storytelling matters. Speaking up matters. And sometimes the most powerful way to deliver the truth is with a little humor. This Women’s History Month, we celebrate women who use their voices boldly and unapologetically. The world is better because of it.

Spotlighting Perri L. Irmer this Women’s History Month Perri L. Irmer is the President and CEO of The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center in Chicago, where she has served since 2015. An architect and attorney with more than 40 years of experience, she has helped expand the museum’s reach through new educational programming and a renewed focus on sharing and preserving Black history and culture. During her leadership, the museum was reintroduced as The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center, strengthening its role as a national cultural institution rooted in Chicago’s South Side. We love and appreciate the work of the DuSable Museum and were honored to host our film festival there, bringing community, art, and storytelling together in such a historic space. Celebrating women who continue to shape culture, education, and community. ✨
